The curry comb is used to loosen dirt and shed hair before brushing. Its rubber or plastic teeth break up dirt, grease, and loose hairs as you work it through the coat in circular motions. This action lifts debris to the surface and stimulates the skin to produce natural oils, making the brushing that follows more effective. After using the curry comb, you’d typically pick up the loosened material with a stiff brush and then finish with a soft brush to remove fine dust and smooth the coat. The hoof pick is for cleaning hooves, not the coat, so it isn’t used for prepping the body.
